This simple through girder bridge crosses 6th Street in Racine.
The bridge consists of a single through girder main span. It is also approached by deck girder spans on either end.
It is built onto stone abutments and steel tower type bents. The deck girder approaches are rather unusual, and are much different than other deck girder spans.
Despite this difference, they are still considered to be deck girders.
Also near this bridge is the Swing Bridge Crossing the Root River. These bridges were built at the same time.
In addition, another bridge crosses Mound Avenue directly north of this location.
Despite the excellent historic integrity this bridge displays, the author has ranked it as being locally significant due to the common design.
However, the Deck Girder spans are still of note due to the unique design.
